Our History

In 1996, Thomas Reiter moved to Austin to take over the daily operational duties of ChemMark of Central Texas for a dear friend. With a agreement of future ownership, Tom quickly got to work maintaining and growing the business. For seven years, Tom mixed products, called on customers, and serviced machines by himself six days a week until 2000, when he was able to hire his first team member. In 2002, Tom entered into a contract agreement to purchase ChemMark of Central Texas from the then owners, Robert & Vivian Blackstock. Later that year, the business had grown enough to hire another team member to help with daily operations in the warehouse.

A Family Legacy of Growth

In 2009, Walter and Sara Benedix, Tom's daughter and son-in-law, joined the ChemMark of Central Texas family. Walter worked directly in the field with Tom, while Sara managed the office. In 2011, ChemMark of Central Texas made the decision to expand our product offerings by becoming a distributor. This change allowed us to ensure consistent results while providing the best possible product line to our customers. Since that time, we have been able to broaden our customer base and compete with some of the largest chemical companies in the industry.

A Legacy Continued

Tom officially retired from the daily operations in 2016 and left the business to be managed by Walter and Sara Benedix. In 2019, ChemMark of Central Texas became a second-generation family-owned business when Walter and Sara Benedix became the new owners. 

To this day, Walter and Sara actively work in and on the business to continue the legacy that Tom Reiter built.
